Rentals from Pursuing Eden in Longview, Texas...just awesome! |
I love this - see the flower girls in the foreground? |
Nothing better than a laced wedding dress... |
The couple had a long distance relationship. She is from another state and he is from Texas. The suitcases and maps were 100% appropriate to signify their relationship... |
Right after the ceremony - headed to take pictures - they aren't happy - right? lol |
Not long after we met - just hanging out at my apartment dancing to Hanson. :) |

From the moment I met this mommy-to-be, I was totally in love with her spirit. I prayed that stopping her downtown to take her photo on her 30th birthday wouldn't result in a restraining order, but I never thought it'd turn into a friendship. One that I hope to cultivate even after she moves away to my old home town of Houston.
Today- she gets to meet her baby boy, who, is long over-due. I pray the greatest blessings on her as she endures the most amazing (and painful) experience ever. May she be washed with peace.
Longview Texas Family Photographer | Mommy & Me Sessions | Mother & Son
I haven't seen this gal in AGES and I was so honored when she contacted me to do photos of her and her son for Mother's Day - um, of course!
We had a good time and even though it was HOOOOOTTTTTTT you wouldn't be able to tell it from the photos.
Nose kiss!!!!
Oh those eyes! I have actually started complimenting people by saying - "You've got the kind of eyes a photographer loves!!!"

Longview Texas Event Photographer | T.C.'s Baby Shower | The Summit Club | Longview Texas
This shower was un-real! I felt like I had literally walked onto a photo shoot set for "Style Me Pretty." I mean - this was just over-the-top amazing from the invitations to the gift tables. Hands-down one the most gorgeous events I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. AND the best part? Teresa, T.C.'s mom - is in the very early stages of her event planning business! So - if you need a planner/decorator/etc for your event - seriously - pick up the phone and call her as soon as you are done looking at these pictures...
Please keep in mind that this was just a room - an empty room, when she got started...
Beautiful vintage rentals from Pursuing Eden in Longview - both Teresa and I have nothing but GREAT things to say about this place....two of the most amazing people and the best biz in town for all things vintage/shabby chic.
Candy bar designed and put together by Ms. Teresa...Can you believe how beautiful it all is?
Beautiful flowers provided by Gregg Florist.

My mom is quite possibly the most amazing woman I've ever known. And I'm not just saying that because of the whole "she carried me for 9 months and gave birth to me." I'm saying that because it's true. Even people who just hear my moms story comment on how AMAZING of a testimony she has. How humbled they are by the simple fact that she gets up every day and keeps going. The thing with my mom - is that she never felt like she had any other choice.
I won't be super sappy and go into her entire life story here - you'd be bored at points and sad at points and mad at points and frankly, I don't want to write that much right now - I do have a shoot at 4...just saying...
So - since I am a photographer and this is a photography blog - I'll share some pictures of that amazing woman I love that always picks me up and makes me try again.
thanks mom!
Oh - and here are some funny facts about her....
1. She thinks she looks old. Even though most people think she's my sister.
2. You wouldn't believe it - but this woman crawls around in the first with her grandson. And not just every once in a while - like, consistently. On the ground, in the dirt or the mud, you name it.
3. She adds an "r" to the word "wash" and it comes out "warsh."
4. She hates coming to my house because the dishes are NEVER done.
In honor of all out moms...
We love you!
Post a comment below with a fun story of your mom!
Longview Event Photographer | Friday Night Live | Downtown Longview
Our town is really stepping it up since we've been back. I guess they'd like to keep us here and not have us move back to Houston. We've only gone once, but each Friday night for certain months of the year, they host bands outside near the courthouse. Vendors come and set up, they have food - specifically beer an wine (wink-wink.) Here are a few shots from one night we went.
My little guy with his Mimi dancing to the music. I think he loved it. Also - he's wearing Rugged Charm! If you don't know them - you need too. Go HERE to order!
Houston Engagement Photographer | Mel & Luis | Downtown Houston, Texas
I've known Mel and Louis for a few years now. I was introduced to them by a friend I met in Houston through another friend I met in college...man - that gets confusing. Anyhow - they are FINALLY getting hitched and I could not be more excited for them! I also could not be more excited about their engagement session from this weekend and the RAD images I have for them!
Here's just a few of my faves from the first part of our session...
Yup- I was pleased with how the escalator shots turned out - my vision - came to life...SWOON!
That dress! Those heals! That beautiful, long, dark hair! (Sorry, you're kinda cute, too, Louis...)
Teal wall for the win! YESSSSSSSSS!
The must-have cross walk shot that you just NEED from any downtown session!
I LOVE this wall - always have...Can someone steal it for me and move it to Longview? K Thanks...
:)
I think this was right before we got in trouble for being in the "flowers." LOL - at least he was nice about it...
Look for part 2 on Wednesday!
Oh - and leave some comment love below!
Houston Family Photographer | Herman Park Mini Sessions
The weather was perfect and the light was just so lovely for these little gals and their families on Saturday morning. I was REALLY bummed that the garden center is under construction but super excited that they are making huge improvements that will include wedding services! YIPPIE!!!!
I look forward to the next time I can head into Houston and my old stomping grounds for some more minis!!!
Happy Easter Everyone!
Wanted to start this day with a little "Before and After" action for ya...
I hear a lot "So that's JUST for you to come take the pictures?"
The answer to that is yes and no. I could come just take the pictures. And they would be - ya know - fine. BUT, when you hire a professional photographer, you are not just paying for the use of their camera. You are purchasing their time, their experience, their artful eye, their back-up process to make sure that they DON'T loose your important family memories. AND you are paying for what they do after they leave your wedding/event/session.
Here's how it goes after your session:
1. BACKUP!!!!! (I'm super paranoid...which is good for you!)
2. Cull - I go through and mark those images that are good poses, great lighting, spot on exposure and weed out the ones where you were in mid sneeze or the "girls" were trying to sneak out.
3. Process - for each session of 45 minutes, it takes hours of editing to get them print ready.
4. "Batch Processing" - Basic color and lighting correction of several images at once.
5. "Enhancement" - I go through and basically make you look your very, very best.
I pop eyes, smooth skin, brighten dark circles, bump up colors enhance the sky and so on to make the photo look as great as it was meant to be.
6. Export - Exporting is a pretty simple task. It takes all those steps and changes I've made in Lightroom and saves those files in a HUGE JPG format for uploading and printing.
7. Upload - this is the part I really hate. It takes forever and a day. Typically is takes upwards of 15 hours to upload the full resolution files from your 45 minute session to your online gallery for proofing. BUT - I would not skip this step for anything. It helps you have a place to easily view your photos and send to friends and family AND it's yet another way that your photos are backed up!
For weddings? Well - it takes a few days for an entire wedding to completely upload.
Happy EASTER!
I'm stoked this gal is going to be doing my hair in a couple of weeks.
But - check out this light! I believe I have a new favorite place to shoot in Longview!

Longview Mini Session Photographer | Family Photographer | Mini sessions rescheduled
Well boo. This is the part I hate about my job - I hate to have to reschedule sessions. I look forward to them the whole week before and I plan mentally the type of poses I'm going to do an even go through kind of a mental play by play of how the photo shoot will go.
Unfortunately, this is one of those times where it is impossible not to reschedule. So, tomorrows sessions are all canceled until further notice...wait, we don't cancel - we reschedule because I've spent the whole week looking forward to photographing you or your family and by golly, I'm going to shoot you! (lol)
So, Pursuing Eden Vintage Rentals in Longview called me about an hour ago and asked if I wanted to reschedule. Um, what?!?!?! How many places of businesses do that? I mean, really? Really? I could not be happier with the service I have received from them. They have been so patient and caring - I am so floored at how they truly care about their customers and community.
So that being said. Here's a pretty rescheduled until further notice poster for you to look at. :)

Longview Child Photographer | Children Photographer | Little Miss Avery Part 2
Okay - so I had to go through and share a few more from this sweet little girls session. Now, I've seen some cuteness in my days, but this little one and her navy blue dress...I melt!
She was such a doll for all of her photos. I loved how excited she got when I would show her as we were shooting and she would realize that it was her on the screen.
Those eyes! Those eyes! How perfect those eyes!

Longview Texas Wedding Photographer | Longview Texas Weddings | Wedding Season
It's HERE! Wedding season - my most favorite time of the year. After I had my little guy - I told myself I was done with weddings. I thought it would be way too much work with doing that and taking care of my baby - but people still asked - and I still said "okay, well, maybe I'll meet with this one bride," or "I'll shoot this one wedding, for this one bride, just this one wedding..."
But the more I said yes to brides and yes to weddings, the more I remembered why I said "Yes!" to the very first wedding in 2008! I LOVE weddings! I love brides and wedding dresses - I love that "look" the groom gets - you know, the one where he's on the very edge of a major leak from his eye sockets and about to maybe throw up - but he's not sure which? Yeah - best look ever. All those nerves and emotions and planning all leading up to this ONE moment. *le sigh*
My fave.
So yeah - here are some wedding photos for you to look at. I think they are pretty.
Thanks for stopping by to look! I love weddings!

This little lady is too cute for words. she wasn't so sure of me at first, even though I'd taken her photos before - but once I showed her that the big scary lens could then show her pictures of her cute self - she was all good.
She has absolutely zero personality - as you can tell...
She loves her mama!
Ummm....what is this face?
Thanks to the browns for letting me love on their baby!
Look for another post about this little - growing - family...

I love a good black and white...
Packed up and ready for college! I bought this GREAT bright teal vintage suitcase SET (4 pieces!) for $10 LITERALLY two hours before her session on a whim! Good thing she loved it!

This family - I mean, they are just a really attractive family. It was so cold the day of their session but they were all out there with smiles on!
Have I mentioned how much I just LOVE Synergy Park in the fall?
Oh that Tongue! She was like that in so many shots...too cute!
That's a good lookin' family!
Sometimes I love to go back and look at older work and re-edit certain images or just look at how far I have come. This wedding was in October of 2010 and it's crazy what a difference your editing style can make in an image. WOW. I don't even want to show you my original edit of this photo - but I'll show some before-and-after images later on the blog to show you that a photographers job is not done when they leave your wedding.
I feel like I can finally blog this sweet families Christmas session because it's out in the open that they are expecting Baby Number TWO!
I loved getting to do some - "Hey, We're Pregnant!" Photos for them.
Their little gal is almost 18 months old and is half past adorable! Check out this family!
PS - I know the gender! whoop! (Sorry - not telling...)
Totally not happy - not even a little bit.
Sometimes - you just gotta have a beautiful black and white... sigh...
This gal is probably one of the coolest people I know. We both had the same rad art teacher in school. We both have awesome style (okay - maybe she just has awesome style and I THINK I do...)
I shot their wedding in like - 2009 - and they still like me and still let me point my camera at them. They are super fun and not to mention make some awesome eye candy in photos.
We shout out at LeTourneau University in Longview. The statue guy - yeah, that's her great grandpa...so her family is a pretty cool family. I mean - he like FOUNDED a major University...for real.
Red lipstick - platinum hair and a giant tulle skirt...I. love. her.
Ummmm...Hello fabulous eye! Wowza!
Amanda is another gal I've known for - geez - ages!
I can't count on all of my fingers and toes how many sleepovers we've had together and how many houses we rolled together - I mean, we totally were never dumb kids who did silly stuff like that. ha ha
She's also one of the toughest chics I know. Shes had two pretty severe car accidents in her very short life and countless procedures because of them. I remember the first one happened not long before my 16th birthday. Can you believe she is still trucking and looking totally HOT while doing so! I mean, is she not just gorgeous?!?!
This is a session that almost didn't happen, but I am so very glad that it did.
I mean, aren't you? How cute are these three? And that little man - melts my heart! He looks so much like his daddy!
I've known these two since high school - Ashley, since grade school. We graduated the same class and we've been friends for what seems like forever. I even can remember when she and Steve first started dating and now they've been married for years! Crazy-ness!
How stinking good looking are these two?!?!?
Better late than never, right? Isn't that how the saying goes?
Anyhow, I had such a blast shooting my holiday mini-sessions this past November and December. I had some of the most wonderful clients and met some great people - some of whom are already repeat customers!
Did you miss that mini-session?
Don't worry - I've got Valentine minis coming up February 2, 2014 (just for the kiddos) and will be doing family and senior minis over spring break in March!
I am so excited for these two! My husband worked with this guy at Hudson ISD in Lufkin a few years back. We became friends quickly and I always wondered how no one had snagged him yet! The right gal just hadn't come along!
So happy for them and excited for their wedding in October!
I went to high school with Morgan and my brother was super close to her brother, Cole. Morgan and I were on the newspaper/yearbook staff together so she's know me every since before I picked up a camera for the very first time. Now, like me, she has a little one, a beautiful 12 week old baby girl. Aren't they just such proud parents! I'm so honored I got to spend a little bit of time this past weekend catching up with her and her family. Looking at these photos, you'd never know how cold it was!
I don't think they like her - nope, not even a little. *WINK*
Mom, dad, brother and sister! Great looking family!
(Dad was snuggling keeping the baby warm!)
And in case you're wondering were the little ones drop-dead adorable outfit came from, it's from a local little company called Sweet Honey!
