The couple had a long distance relationship.  She is from another state and he is from Texas.  The suitcases and maps were 100% appropriate to signify their relationship...

This wedding was one for the books!  So much color!  So much bling!

About a week before the wedding, A called me and said, "You're going to need to bring your fancy lens because there is so much sparkle at this wedding!"

Thanks for letting me take photos at your wedding!

Gregg Florist is really blowing me away with their work these days...love her bouquet!

These two - just so darn cute!  And no one would have thought that little Longview church had any places this pretty...look at that light!

no words...just perfect.

If this girl wasn't my friend, I'd be totally jealous of anyone who had her as a friend.

I'll never forget meeting her for the first time and her being 100% not what I expected.  I guess I figured she'd be some pretentious/dark/moody blogger-artist type who was too good for anyone and everyone around her...

(Hey Miranda, I totally pegged you completely wrong...)

BOY - was I SO very wrong...

"Hey, I’m Miranda. I’m a writer and music lover who has never met a pop/rock anthem I didn't like."

Not long after we met - just hanging out at my apartment dancing to Hanson.  :)

We met at a Quiet Company concert (a band I now LOVE and am having withdrawls from not seeing them live in the last year...) and immediately clicked.  And me, being the "kick starter" that I am - immediately started fanning her ego and good groupie flame to encourage her to take her blog to the next level...

THREE long years later - as you'll read in her POST - she has taken the perverbial plunge and is really rocking the world of music journalism in a really fresh way.

Here's a little Q & A with this rad gal for your reading pleasure!

Who the heck are you?

The short answer is: I'm just a girl who loves music.

The long answer? I'm Miranda, I just turned 30 and I live in Houston. I'm a writer by trade and a music lover by existence. I grew up listening to late 50s and 60s rock n roll. Now I'm the girl who has never met a pop/rock anthem she didn't like, and for as long as I can remember I've loved music.

At 7 I fell in love with The Beach Boys. Around 13, it was Hanson. And as I got older (18+) and started going to shows, I was exposed to the music world in a whole new way: the touring world. I watched girls wear skimpy outfits, throw themselves at security guards and band members...even saw a few hop on the tour bus. And I never wanted to be one of those girls. What a waste, I'd think. They're missing the beauty of the music and the chance to talk with the person who wrote a beautiful lyric that saved your life.

Without realizing it, that's how I became The Good Groupie - the type of girl that loves a band to her core. She goes to shows, stands front row and sings along at the top of her lungs, even to the guitar riffs and drum fills. She supports her favorite bands by showing up at shows, time and time again, and tells her friends how great they are and why they should be listening. And after every show, the only thing she ever takes home is a melody in her heart, lyric stuck on her mind...and an armload of band merch.

Why a music blog?

I've been writing nearly as long as I've loved music. When I was 13 years old, I decided I wanted to make writing my career after getting an essay published in the Houston Chronicle. (Seeing my name in print was kind of completely awesome.) It wasn't until I was in college that I started to explore the idea of becoming a rock journalist.

Unfortunately, I graduated from college just as the publishing industry was crumbling. Newspapers were going bankrupt right and left, magazines were dropping print editions and going digital - and EVERYONE was cutting back on staff.

So instead of trying to find a job in a field that was already competitive and became even more competitive as writing staffs shrank, I decided to find a stable job that allowed me to write and start my own music blog to fill the void. A little more than four years later...here we are!

Where do you see The Good Groupie in 2015?

Oh man, such a loaded question. Every year of blogging teaches me something new - I get a little better at it, a little smarter, a little more refined. 2014 has already been a year of tremendous growth for me, and there's even more just around the corner! It's still a work in progress, but The Good Groupie is getting a BIG refresh by the end of the summer.

In 2015, I hope to continue writing some kick-ass series my readers love and request. I want to interview more touring bands and find new, exciting ways to share the local bands I love. I want to be able to share music more actively with my readers. I want to keep teaching fellow music fans how to be a good groupie for their favorite bands and, most importantly, I want to keep growing this awesome music community I've created from my blog readers. They are awesome guys and gals who love music the same way I do and who share some killer music with me. I want to keep that going!
